Toronto, Canada: GAO Research Inc., the world-leading supplier of communications software, has made a significant breakthrough in the huge Chinese information appliance market with the signing of a contract with Beijing Hi-Tech Wealth Electronic Product Company Ltd., the number one PDA manufacturer in China.

Under this deal, GAO is supplying high-speed modem software that runs on the Intel StrongARM processor. Beijing Hi-Tech Wealth plans to use the software for its Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) in China.

"We are pleased that GAO Research has chosen Intel's StrongARM processors as the platform for their PDA software. We see tremendous potential for Intel StrongARM processor in the Chinese market," said Intel's Tom Yemington, Product Marketing Manager, Handheld Computing Division of Intel.

The embedded modem software from GAO enables PDA users to connect to a phone line and browse the Web or transfer data at high speeds to and from the Internet. "The combination of Intel StrongARM processor and GAO softmodem technology offers a cost-effective, real-estate saving, minimal power consumption, and flexible solution which is far more superior than a chipset for PDA devices," said Steve Yu of Beijing Hi-tech Wealth.

Dr. Frank Gao, CEO of GAO Research, feels that the information appliance market is going to grow explosively over the next few years. "Worldwide, more and more people want the functionality of browsing the net while being mobile. At GAO we have the embedded software technology to enable the change, and we are well-positioned to take advantage of the tremendous opportunity this represents."
