GAO T.4 - TIFF Conversion Software

GAO T.4 – TIFF conversion software enables conversion between the ITU-T T.4 Recommendation fax file format and the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). It includes checking of RTC pattern, error correction on T.4 data, and can report the number of scan lines. It supports conversion from T.4 to TIFF as well as from TIFF and T.4.

TIFF was designed from ground up to become the industry standard for image file exchange. Every major desktop publishing and image processing software support the TIFF format. The advantages of using a tagged image format are:

Applications can safely ignore any tags they do not understand.
New tags can be added at any time hence preventing the format from becoming obsolete.
Private tags can be defined to contain proprietary information within the TIFF file.

GAO T.4 – TIFF conversion software supports most tags. The TIFF specification recommends 4 types of data compression schemes. GAO supports the CCITT Group 3 One-Dimensional modified Huffman RLE compression method. Two-Dimensional compression scheme is currently under development (Please inquire for details).
